How To Use a Crock-Pot

Hot Answer from Crock-Pot
I too thought it cooked too hot so wrote to company. The following is their reply:
"Both High and Low stabilize at the same temperature, it is just a matter of how long it takes to reach the simmer point. Once food reaches the simmer point, total cook time is dependent on cut and weight of meat to reach the point of maximum flavor and texture potential. (Most dishes can be prepared on either High or Low.) Typical cook time for Crock-Pot' slow cookers to reach simmer point (209'F):
Low: 7-8 to reach the simmer point
High: 3-4 hours to reach the simmer point"
It is hotter than my old one but it's a food safety issue. The dishes are coming out great. I find it the perfect size for my husband and me and can't beat the price!

3 Qt. Crock Pot
This lovely little gem is a perfect size for 2-4 servings. It has "Off, Low, High and Warm" settings. Many crock pots I read about before purchasing this one do not have the warm setting, which makes keeping your cooked items at the right temperature for your meal without the higher cooking heat that could possibly over-cook your meal if left on too long.

Have already made several meals with the crock pot (turkey carbonate, beef stew and baby back ribs). I noticed when the recipes called for cooking from 7-9 hours on low temperature, it only took 7 hours, so checking your food is important when you first start using a new crock pot.

Would definitely recommend this crock pot.
Liking It
I've had a Rival brand Crock Pot for years and decided I needed another one so that I could keep more than one dinner item warm for when company comes. I choose the Crock Pot brand because my first one has served me well although the new Crock Pot does not say Rival on it anywhere so I guess they've sold the name. I saw this one and it had the keep warm setting and the price was so affordable I decided to try it and I'm very happy I did. The shape is lower and wider than my old one and the lid is glass as apposed to the plastic lid on the old one. I admit the new ones lid does not fit tightly (see update below). I really love the handles - they are open in the middle and easy to grip. And I can wrap the cord around and tuck the plug end into one of the handles for neat storing. Also love the stainless finish, it's very sleek and attractive. Update - the crock has small bumps around the top perimeter that hold the lid up off the rim a bit (like a couple of millimeters). This...
